Social Media And Marketing Benefits

Spread the love

I bet you are familiar with the use of social media for personal use.  After all, it is estimated that 3.2 billion people worldwide are estimated to using social media.  That’s roughly 42% of the current population.  This is just a representation of social media users.  Just think of the rest of the population who use the internet regularly.  Is it any question why entrepreneurs are taking steps to utilize social media platforms to the advantage of their businesses?  There are many advantages to social media and marketing benefits for your business.

No Wonder

It’s really no surprise when we think about the number of online users worldwide that the successful online entrepreneurs are using social media platforms to grow their following, gain traffic to their websites or businesses, establish and earn trust, and sell their products.  Success is a definite possibility if we can figure out how to use social media networks to our advantage.  Without discussing specific platforms in this article, I’m going to give you the top 5 tips you can begin using today from any platform so you can begin to see success from social media and the use of its marketing to your benefit.

Tip 1 – Identification

Before you decide which platform/(s) you want to use, it’s important to do some planning.  Have a business plan in mind.  For example, identify who your audience will be.  If your target population is teenagers or those in college, you might be more apt to choose a platform such as Instagram.  If you’re looking to reach moms, Pinterest may be a good choice.  Obviously, you want to think about which social media network your target audience seems to be drawn to.  Something else to think about upfront is goals.  What are your goals?  Do you just want to grow a social following, or do you want to establish relationships, grow trust and authority, and present your brand or product in a way that sells?  Once you’ve identified your goals and target audience, choose the platform that checks the boxes.

Tip 2 – Authenticity

Once you create accounts for your selected social media networks, you will be busy.  At first, it can seem daunting, but you do want to grow an audience, right?  The best way to get attention is to showcase your content or product.  You will want to be creative in this capacity.  If you’re a blogger, make sure you have sufficient content that you can link back to your website.  If you have a product for sale, make sure it’s available and get it out there.  You want to market and present yourself in a professional manner.  The best way to gain followers is to showcase your professionalism as well as your character, by engaging with your new peeps.  🙂  Be friendly.  Comment and like their statuses and posts.  Communicate with them and eventually, show them you appreciate their business!  Be you.

Tip 3 – Consistency

It’s imperative to be consistent.  That means, it is not okay to write a post or two and call it good.  If you want to grow your traffic and reap the benefits of online marketing through the use of social media, you have to be present.  Not all day, every day, of course.  No one can do that.  However, if you’re regularly creating relevant content for your readers, make sure you’re posting about it and linking to it.  You want to get as much content in front of the eyes of others as you can.  Social media is a great way to do that, allowing you to post in a variety of ways, linking to the same content.  Write and create as often as is possible and make sure you are sharing with those who are following you.  Eventually, you’ll have followers asking you what’s next!  Keep your readers interested and waiting for the next bit of content you release.

Tip 4 – Grow And Build

As mentioned earlier, the audience matters.  It matters who you are targeting, how often, and whether or not you are engaging with them.  As you build your number of followers, please don’t forget about them.  They are interested in what you have to offer, say, write, promote, etc.  Engage and communicate with them often.  They will appreciate this and their trust and faith in you will only grow.  Be real.  Be genuine.  You will continue to grow your tribe.

Tip 5 – Monitor Statistics

If you’re unfamiliar with analytics, do a quick little search.  Most of the social media platforms have a way for you to view and monitor the analytics for the things you post.  Generally speaking, it’s just a way to see what’s being viewed, interacted with, etc.  What has been pleasing to your audience?  What’s getting their attention?  What could you be doing better to gain their attention?  If you can study these things, you’ll only become a better influencer within your social media networks.  Some analytics even give you statistics on what kind of devices are being used to look at your content, where in the world your audience is browsing from, gender, peak times of the day, etc.  These are fun things to know about your audience.  Don’t forget that it can also be used as a tool to your advantage.

Final Thoughts

After reading this, I hope you are able to see the many advantages to social media and marketing benefits they offer.  You’re able to sign up for most (if not all) platforms for free.  Why not get started today?  Make yourself known as a professional entrepreneur.  The sky is the limit and I have no doubt that you can be successful!  Just remember to put the above 5 tips into practice!

Until Next Time,

  1. I never thought of identifying my audience, I usually try to post on al social media’s to get some different type of traffic. I’m in my twenties but I honestly don’t use Instagram so often. I mostly get visitors either from Twitter or Facebook! Another alternative asides from social media, are either forums (I haven’t tried that yet) and other apps related to your niche (this alternative I have tried and I’ve gotten pretty good results).

    1. Thank you, Stephanie!

You have given me some great ideas going forward! Social media has been a great source of traffic, but the use of forums is something I will definitely follow up on!!

Thanks again for your insight and recommendations!

  2. This is a very good review. i must thank your for creating this website. social media is one of the fastest and ever growing platform for marketing of products and despite the fact that you have mentioned 5 major characteristics, one vital issue seemed not to have been addressed . this is the issue of security. This issue comes up every day about the insecurities of social media. how do we cope with it?

    1. Hello, Kolas!

It is understandable for some to feel potential issues with security. While I’m not minimalizing that, I have to say that I’ve never encountered any issues regarding the matter. I suppose as long as we’re careful, sensible, and monitoring what’s going on around us, we have a lesser chance of being taken advantage of. Thanks for weighing in!

  3. You are absolutely correct when you say how important social media is.  Both Facebook and Pinterest have worked wonders for me.  Advertising on these two sites has done even better.  Now, that’s not to say that other sites aren’t as good – there are others just as good.  Spread yourself as widely as possible to get your message out there!

    1. Excellent advice! Thank you! It is true that there are several social media platforms out there. They can and should all be used to our benefit. Best of luck to you!

  4. I am just beginning to use social media to grow my website, this is excellent advice thank you so much! I never thought about using different platforms in order to reach different markets, I will definitely use that in the future. I have been using Facebook and Twitter, although I have a question about consistency. I am worried about posting TOO much, what is a good amount to post via social media? I do not want to have people become tired of looking at my posts and lose the effectiveness of them. Thank you again for your help!

    1. You bring up an excellent point, Travis! Thank you! I do believe there can be a fine line between just the right amount and too much sharing. I would suggest sharing all your newest content as soon as it becomes available. Trickle in some additional posts non-related to your niche just to mix things up a little! I can’t give a concrete ‘number’ of times to post. Just be reasonable and if you’re sick of seeing your posts, the chances are, others are too. 🙂 Happy sharing!

  5. This is great advice, Hiedi and will help me much.  Especially the part about being consistent and present.  I think this is probably the most important aspect of using Social Media.  It’s something I have been learning a lot about lately.

Write a post? Put a link on every SM you are part of.  I’ve read that writing and posting 2 – 4 times a week will go a long way to developing trust and authority which, in turn, will bring traffic to the website.  I have not been as consistent in this one area as much as I should and now I see why.

Glad I found this.  Time to make a change.  Thanks,

    Wayne

    1. Hello, Wayne!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I definitely appreciate your visit! I like the research you found on the amount of posting per week and how that can do wonders for traffic! Just imagine if you posted something daily! 🙂 Good luck to you as you continue your writing!
